After exhausting the reality options offered by the shallowness
of the concrete, Philip hitchhiked to Seattle, performed in clubs,
moved back to Chicago, worked at the FLAX art supply store, rejected
the city again and moved to Michigan where he built seawalls for
the rising Lake Michigan waters, became fed-up with that and drove
a 1963 Buick LaSabre (bought for $1) to Ashland, OR, worked as a
cabinet maker on the side of Soda Mountain, wrote a large performance
piece in collaboration with Greg Waits while visiting San Francisco,
then moved back to Muskegon, MI to produce the wedding of his sister
Christine.
